About
Charlett Woodworking
I vividly recall, as a boy, walking in the
woods and passing my hands over the bark of the trees as I went... feeling
the different textures and feeling a connection. I still feel that connection
to the wood each time I go into the studio.
Experience
I have been designing and hand building conservative
contemporary furniture since May of 1981. My reputation is founded on
crafting high quality, handmade fine furniture that is custom designed
to meet your wishes and needs. My prices are very competitive.
A repeat client base supports Charlett
Woodworking
Over the years, the continuing confidence of my
broad client base brings much of my work. They add another piece or furnish
another room. And, more and more, I find that I am building custom furniture
for "second generation" clients. I look forward to gaining
your confidence.
Time honored techniques married to
custom design
Each piece of furniture is custom designed and
built, by my hand, employing only the finest hardwoods, materials and
finishes.
My original veneer designs are used across the spectrum of my furniture.
Traditional and timely joinery techniques are employed, such as hand cut
dovetails to join flat and curved panels. Lathe turned spindles or chair
backs laminated to form a pleasing curve... it all adds up to furniture
of unique value.
Inspiration and style
When I see furniture forms that catch my eye,
that information goes into the "mix" and becomes part of my
resource. As you roam my furniture gallery you
may see the influence of Asian, Traditional or Classic styles. From the
Arts & Crafts and Mission movements you might feel Stickley, Greene
and Greene or Charles Renee Macintosh. And the purity of Shaker... who
could ignore it?
What is my style? I believe it is more of a feel... an interpretation,
a blending of recognized styles with my personal inspiration and your
unique contribution.
